The Character Collective was created to honor childhood personality — and to celebrate the stories that help children see themselves and others more clearly.
The Character Collective is a short personality portrait session designed to capture your child exactly as they are — right now.

Each child is photographed individually during a short & sweet session.
They'll bring a favorite book to be photographed with — one that reflects who they are, what they love, or a story that makes them feel seen.
These sessions are also a give-back initiative. Families are invited to donate a diverse children’s book to help place inclusive stories into classrooms.
As a thank-you, families who donate receive a $25 gallery credit.
I believe every child deserves to feel seen — in photographs and in books.
Stories shape how children understand themselves and others. When kids see characters who reflect their lives — or lives different from their own — it builds confidence, empathy, and connection.
This is about more than a photo.

5-12 days after your session, you’ll receive your gallery. There will be an option to upgrade your gallery to a collection that includes additional digital images and/or a gallery credit to use toward prints or keepsakes.
I will make it a little tough to choose just two images once you see your child’s full story unfold.

Each Character Collective session is reserved for one child to allow their personality to fully shine.
Families booking sessions for multiple children:
• Priority booking, to ensure back to back slots

Each child receives their own curated gallery and collection selection.
Because every personality deserves its own spotlight — and every sibling relationship deserves to be remembered.
Families who bring a new or like-new diverse children’s book to donate will receive an additional $30 gallery credit to use in the shop.
Diverse books are stories that reflect a variety of identities, cultures, abilities, family structures, and lived experiences. These are books that help children see themselves — and others — represented in meaningful and affirming ways.
Books can be appropriate for Pre-K through upper middle school and may be picture books or chapter books.
All donated books will be placed into local classrooms to help expand access to inclusive stories.

I'm Christina, a lifestyle family photographer documenting all definitions of families in the Maryland, DC, VA area since 2017. As a current elementary school teacher with 20 years of experience in the classroom, I deeply believe in the power of representation and the importance of diversity — both in the stories our children read and in the images they see of themselves.

How long is each session?
Each Character Collective session is short and sweet, between 5-7 minutes.
Who is this session for?
These sessions are designed for children ages 1+. Please reach out if your little is under one years old.
Can I book for more than one child?
Yes! Each child needs their own reserved time slot. Families booking multiple children receive priority scheduling for back-to-back sessions, a $50 gallery credit per additional child (applied toward upgraded collections), and two complimentary sibling portraits. We will do a sibling photo between the sessions.
What if my kid doesn't smile?
That’s completely okay. The Character Collective is about personality — not performance. Some children are serious. Some are shy. Some are thoughtful observers. A smile is never required. My goal is to capture your child as they truly are in this season. Sometimes that includes a big grin. Sometimes it’s a quiet, steady gaze. Both are beautiful. In my portrait guide, I will share some tips/tricks to address these concerns. I will also get to know about your kiddo through a questionnaire that I will look over prior to our time together.
What does the session fee include? Does that include digital downloads?
The session fee of $195 includes your Character Collective session, portrait guide, and two high resolution digital downloads.
Where and what time of day will the sessions take place? Is there parking?
The Annapolis Studio. It will take place between 10-1 pm. There is a wonderful parking lot. I will be sending details on where to park and where to get into the studio a few days prior to the session.
Is the location accessible?
There is step-free access to the building; however, it does require using a different parking area and entering through an alternate entrance. While accessibility is available, it is not as straightforward as I would ideally like it to be.
If accessibility is a concern for your family, please reach out to me directly so we can talk through details and make sure you feel fully supported.
What should my child wear?
In my guide I will share some tips. Short answer- let your child shine and choose what is true to them!
What kind of book should your child bring?
Have your child bring a favorite book that reflects who they are or what they love. It can be a picture book or chapter book. This book will not be donated.
What about the book donation book? What qualifies as a “diverse” book for the donation credit?
Diverse books reflect a variety of identities, cultures, abilities, family structures, and lived experiences. These are stories that help children see themselves and others represented in meaningful ways.
What ages can the donated books be for?
Books may be appropriate for Pre-K through upper middle school. Picture books and chapter books are great!
What do we receive after the session?
Within 5-12 days post session, you’ll be emailed a gallery of 15+ fully edited images. You will have access to download two images. From there, you can purchase a collection, download your selected images, and apply any gallery credits toward artwork or keepsakes in the shop.
Are family portraits included?
No. This is a child-focused personality session. Sibling portraits are only included for families booking multiple children.
Where do the donated books go?
All donated books will be placed into local classrooms to help expand access to inclusive and representative stories.
What is a gallery credit?
A gallery credit is an amount you have to purchase products/prints/keepsakes in the gallery shop. Once you receive your gallery, you will receive a promo code to apply the credit to the shop at checkout. I am offering a special product in the shop, a gallery board for the Character Collective.
Why gallery credit?
Having printed products, keepsakes, and prints preserves the legacy of your family. As a busy parent, I related to the never ending to do list and the list of things that just fell by the way side. Having the credit as part of your collection give that gentle nudge to choose prints and products so that images move from phones/computers to homes and hands. You can use a gallery credit on any item in the shop.
Can I buy more images if I choose Collection 2 or 3 after I receive my gallery? Can I use my gallery credit to purchase more digital downloads?
You can purchase additional images in groups of 5 and 10, as well as the entire gallery in the gallery shop after you receive your gallery. You can use your code at check-out in the shop. One additional image for digital download is $50.
Can I gift a mini session to a friend/family member?
Absolutely! Mini sessions make thoughtful gifts. Before booking, please make sure your recipient loves my style—natural, joyful, and lifestyle-focused photography. While I capture a only a few classic smiling-at-the-camera portraits, my sessions are all about real moments and connection.
