Historic Alexandria VA Maternity Session | Chris & Meghan
Meghan and Chris are expecting their first baby!! We celebrated with a gorgeous historic Alexandria VA maternity session at the Carlyle House and waterfront. Even in the chilly winter air, you could see their excitement and the love between them both was just incredible. Every family session, every baby, every moment I photograph is special but every once in awhile, I get the chance to document a family like Meghan and Chris who have struggled and are finally at a chance where they can smile and enjoy the moment.
When I began to email with Meghan and Chris, the first thing that stood out to me was their sheer joy. Meghan told me that they’d been completing infertility treatments for about 1.5 years before they were able to celebrate their little miracle baby who’s now on the way! I was so honored they chose me to document this incredible moment for their family. We planned a cozy winter session for them – and their pup, Theo.

We actually had to reschedule their session because of an ice storm that we got, but I was thrilled when we were finally able to have their session! There was still some ice on the ground, but Chris and I made sure to keep Meghan extra safe. She brought two beautiful gowns with her and I’m still pretty obsessed with them both. In fact, Meghan actually donated them to my client style closet after the session. It was SO sweet of her to do that! I’m so happy I can offer such a gorgeous option for future clients because of Meghan.
After we started our sesion at the Carlyle House, we headed down to the waterfront which was a great chance for Meghan to change dresses. Theo loved being down on the docks, too! He was prancing around and just so happy to be showing off during our session. Meghan and Chris actually did something super smart during their session – they brought a friend! Between shots with Theo, they could hand him off to someone else who could keep him occupied. And their friend even carried coats so that no one got too cold during our session. It was SUCH a great idea!
Congratulations again, Meghan and Chris! Your love for each other and that sweet baby is just so powerful. I hope you enjoy this look back at your maternity session here with me in Alexandria!
