Washington DC Family Lifestyle at the Lincoln Memorial

There is nothing quite like a sunrise session in Washington DC. It’s one of the few times of day that the city isn’t overflowing with people exploring, and it’s so quiet. I met with this sweet family for a sunrise Washington DC portrait session at the Lincoln Memorial recently and it’s honestly become one of my favorite sessions. I’ve photographed Teresa and her family before, and it’s always an honor because she’s actually a photographer, too! Every session means a lot to me but when other photographers trust me with their own family portrait session, it’s incredibly special.

Family sessions with younger kids are the best! Everyone always has so much energy and we truly do make a game out of our time together. These three kiddos had a blast playing some of my favorite games – nose tag and switch. They got to run between me and their parents, plus play together. It’s in these fun moments that the most magical, natural moments happen. It’s when I can truly capture a family being who they are together. 

Like I mentioned, I’ve worked with Teresa and her family before but this DC session might honestly be my favorite family session we’ve done. There was just something so magical about being the nation’s capital while it was so quiet and peaceful. I did not mind the 5:00 wake-up. For this session, they also utilized my complimentary styling service to plan their outfits… and I loved how they turned out! I don’t think we could have planned a dreamier session!
