Alexandria, Virginia Maternity and Lifestyle Newborn Sessions
Every family I work with is special, but there’s something special about getting to document your family’s special memories. So, when my cousin asked if I would photograph his wife’s maternity portraits and newborn lifestyle session for their baby girl, I was so excited! I’m so happy for them both and now, their new daughter. I can’t wait to share their Alexandria, Virginia maternity portraits with you today.
Alexandria VA Maternity Portraits
We chose to meet at Green Spring Gardens for their maternity session. It was actually really funny because we ran into their wedding officiant while we were there! They’d just finished another wedding, but it was a special full-circle moment for them. What a small world, right? I love that they decided to have their session at Green Spring Gardens because it was just so peaceful. We were able to slow down and celebrate this special season for their growing family. And how lovely do they look together?!
Lifestyle Newborn Session
When their daughter arrived, I headed to their home for a lifestyle newborn session. It was the perfect way to document their new addition. She was absolutely perfect, sleeping almost the entire session. I always let the babies lead our sessions because I want to make sure they’re comfortable. Whether that means lots of snuggling, lots of feeding, or just letting them sleep… we’ll make it work! While I don’t usually do too many shots where the babies are alone and unswaddled, because it was so warm, we went for it. It worked for a little until she realized she wasn’t snug as a bug anymore. But, her mom and dad worked together and we were able to document more together.
I appreciate that they trusted my vision for both of their sessions. I think we capture some truly beautiful moments for this new family of four, fur baby included. And it means so much, as family, that I was there to celebrate with them.
