It’s such a small world! This family found me on Instagram and were interested in me photographing their daughter. As we began to talk more and plan their milestone portraits, we found out that their sister works with me!! I was so excited to get to photograph my work bestie’s adorable niece during her Sherwood Gardens milestone portraits!
Sherwood Gardens Milestone Portraits for First Birthday
We planned this sweet milestone session for her first birthday at Sherwood Gardens because of their gorgeous tulip display. Unfortunately, by the time we had their session, most of the tulips were gone. But, the gardens still had the spring vibe we were hoping for, so we had a blast! For this session, her parents decided they didn’t want to do a cake smash to celebrate her turning one. Instead, the focus of the session was really their interactions and relationships as a family.
Personally, I was really happy they didn’t want to do a cake smash. They’re not “my thing” to photograph and I much prefer the interactions you can capture in the frame when the whole family is involved. We were able to capture how this sweet girl explores the world with her parents by her side. Her parents do love her! It was so sweet to watch how much they loved snuggling up with her. After our session, they ordered some prints of their session together and I loved seeing that their favorites were the emotional moments we captured of them all together.
