Generational Newborn Portraits at Home with DC Newborn Photographer 

One of the recent couples I photographed a maternity session for has welcomed their baby girl to the world! I had the honor of capturing their newborn portraits at home to celebrate. Their newborn session also featured their little one’s aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Having them there made their lifestyle newborn portraits even more meaningful for all of us.

I walked away from this newborn session so joyful and fulfilled as an artist. To see two new amazing parents with a very loved little one made my heart overflow. Amma, the new mama, told me about her new tattoo while we were capturing photos of her with her baby. Her tattoo shares the idea that “mother” is a special detail and journey. I absolutely love that! It was incredible knowing that she feels that way while being surrounded by her own mother, Ammu, and grandmother, Muthassi, too. 

Like their maternity session, these portraits took place in their home. It’s filled with bright colors, and so much joy. We captured the new parents snuggling with their new little one, as well as lots of portraits of their family with the baby too. This session definitely reminds me that sometimes the small, “ordinary moments” are the ones that matter most, especially when it comes to newborn photos. It’s one of the reasons I adored capturing this whole session – it was all about the connection between the family and their newest member! 

 I truly hope that these portraits will be treasured for years to come. Congratulations on your new bundle of joy!!
