Based in Howard County, Maryland, Christina Tundo Photography serves all the definitions of family within the DMV area, preserving the authentic moments, both big and small, that you want to hold onto forever.
I have a confession: I don’t get the hype of fall family photos. I know I might get some side eye for this. But, it’s the truth! I’ve been a Maryland lifestyle family photographer for years and I just… don’t understand them. Phew, I said it out loud! So many families wait until the fall to schedule their photos and the reality is that the cherished moments that they’re looking to capture don’t only happen in the fall. Family photos are about documenting everyday life and the little things that mean the most to you in the stage that you’re in now. If you wait until the fall, everything can change.
When I start planning family photos with my clients, I want to know what makes them special and what matters most to them. Those are the things that should be highlighted in your photos! Maybe it’s your little one’s dimple or how their favorite stuffed animal eats dinner with you every night. 6 months from now, those things will change or maybe even disappear. If there’s anything you take from this post, it’s that I want to encourage you to capture what matters to you NOW – before life changes. Don’t wait until the fall because you think that’s the popular or “right” thing to do.
There’s no denying that the fall is a super popular time for family photos. It makes sense: Christmas and holiday cards are coming up quickly and everyone wants the perfect image to put on the center. But the truth is that family photos aren’t seasonal. They don’t have to only happen in the fall. In fact, I find that most sessions around that time of year aren’t relaxed or at home. They’re focused on the foliage and grabbing the perfect shot for the cards. It’s just not a really fun time for anyone.
Instead, I want to encourage my families to book a lifestyle family photo session that will capture what makes life at home special right now. We can make a pizza, play out in the yard, or snuggle up on the couch. The point is: whatever means the most to your family is what should be documented in your images.
I find that for me, and my clients, relaxed lifestyle family photos at home can happen at any time of year. In fact, they should happen throughout the year when you see a phase of life that you want to freeze for all of the years to come.
