A Love Letter to My Repeat Families from Maryland Family Photographer

As 2024 comes to an end, I like to use this time as a chance to reflect on what has made this year so wonderful for me as your Maryland family photographer. One of the biggest thing that has made 2024 such a success (in many ways) is all of you: my repeat families. This blog post is a thank you to everyone who has worked with me year after year and continues to entrust their most precious memories to me and my camera. The honor is not lost on me and I hope I never take it all for granted. Working with you is so very special to me. 

Thank you for embracing the chaos. 

Things may not always go as planned, but you keep trusting me that your pockets of life are more than perfect. Some sessions are more successful than other years. Elements of our time together sometimes just don’t go our way. And that’s life. But you have always been trusting and your belief that I will capture something meaningful is special to me. Honestly, the sessions that had something go “wrong” were some of my favorites! 

Thank you for going with my (sometimes kooky) prompts.

Your faith in me to capture your family authentically means everything to me. My silly prompts are meant to spark genuine connection, laughs and smiles. I want to capture your family as they really are – not your forced smiles or boring poses. Laughing along with me and my silly ideas makes our sessions fun and enjoyable. 

Thank you for being vulnerable and sharing your truths. 

From IVF, miscarriages, and change in family dynamics, it’s been beautiful to hold this space for you. I am here to document every part of your journey – even the ones that may not feel so fun right now. By trusting me with your honest truths, I am able to create even more meaningful imagery for your story. 

Thank you for welcoming me into your family and your home. 

I have the best clients. You are always all so thoughtful. I know that being brought into your home can be intimate and vulnerable. But you’re all amazing – offering water or a cup of coffee while we work, and that welcome feeling is everything to me. 

Thank you for celebrating my life and knowing my family.

I truly get to know you all. I follow a lot of my families on social media and catch up all year, but so many of you do the same with me. It’s special to be a part of each other’s lives and milestones, even if we’re not together. I truly feel like a part of your family and your story this way!
