If there’s one thing I’m passionate about, it’s capturing honest and true photography sessions for families. I want to capture sessions where they are seen in their current season of life. While I love all of the sessions I document equally, there’s something incredibly beautiful about truthful newborn photography. Honest newborn photography captures the raw, unfiltered beauty of your home, your routines, and your love. Lifestyle sessions are meant to showcase where you are in your journey together and who you are when I’m not around. I think that’s part of why they mean so much to me – and why I believe every single family deserves newborn photography in their own home.

Why honest newborn photography? 

Lifestyle photography doesn’t require a picture-perfect house or coordinated outfits. It doesn’t require anything more than you showing up as you are with your loved ones. I personally feel like it relieves the pressure of perfection – especially for new parents. The last thing you want to do is worry about coordinating the perfect looks, getting your hair and makeup done, and keeping everyone spotless as you show up to the studio or location. Instead, you can focus on being where you love to be most (home!), in cozy outfits you love, and together in a relaxed and real way. Sometimes posed newborn photography can feel staged, but I love how genuine and honest lifestyle photography sessions feel. 

Tell a Story

Honest lifestyle photography tells a story. It’s less about capturing the perfect posed moment and more about the real things that happen –  the way a newborn grabs a parent’s finger, the love in an older sibling’s glance, or the cozy chaos of family life. These moments become cherished memories that words can’t express. We capture what makes your family special (like a mid-session coffee refueling or your favorite bedtime routine). 

Come As You Are

The last point about honest newborn photography that I want to share is that lifestyle sessions allow us to capture your family as you are, without judgement. There is no expectation about how these photos “should” look or what you “should” do. Instead, they’re about you and fully customizable for your family’s story and needs. I love that we have the space and time to slow down, allowing your little one’s extra breaks in their safe space, time for feedings, and in a spot that is inclusive and supportive for them. 

No matter what your family’s story looks like, honest newborn photography is a chance to capture this unique season of life in a way that showcases YOUR story. It is full of love and compassion and honesty because that’s how special moments are made.
