DC is amazing because it’s got so many beautiful locations – from monuments to parks, to coffee shops, waterfront views, and even your home. The list is almost endless, and choosing the perfect spot for your photos can feel a bit daunting, so here’s 5 things to consider when choosing the location for your DC family photos!

1. Start with Your Family’s Personality.

Like I said, DC has a lot to offer. Think about what you family likes to do – in and around DC, in particular. In-home sessions are perfect for capturing authentic family moments. Whether it’s baking cookies in the kitchen, reading on the couch, or playing in the backyard, these intimate settings tell the story of your everyday life. If your family loves city life, consider The National Mall, Eastern Market, or the streets of Georgetown. These spots can add an urban, dynamic vibe to your photos. Or, if your family is more adventurous and outdoorsy, consider one of the many beautiful parks in the DC area, like Rock Creek Park.
