Howard County In-Home Holiday Family Session
This sweet holiday family portrait session was just a joy to photograph! I love this time of year and working with families while they’re cozy in their house is always a good time. For this Howard County in-home holiday family session, I got to spend the afternoon at their gorgeous house capturing a little bit of their everyday life. Lifestyle sessions at home are some of my favorite sessions with clients. There’s just something so special about photographing a family where they’re happiest.
Howard County In-Home Holiday Family Session
For this in-home family session, the house was already decorated for the holidays. It was that sweet spot of the year between the fall and winter – so while inside was nice and cozy feeling, we still had the gorgeous fall foliage outside. Because of the beautiful colors, we started the session outside. The four of them walked around, enjoying the afternoon. Definitely a moment where I was thankful for the late fall this year!!
Once inside, everyone changed into their holiday sweaters and got comfortable by the fireplace. I loved the single wreath they had hanging above the fireplace! We encouraged the girls to play and have fun at home – being natural. They wound up being some of our favorites from the session. What a great reminder that sometimes the unposed moments are the ones the mean the most in the end. In fact, I encouraged the whole family to tickle each other and play together throughout the whole session. While there’s a time and place for the “everyone smile at me” photo, I really want to photograph my families as they truly are.
One of my favorite images from their portrait session is mom and dad sitting together on the steps while the girls looked on. It happened completely naturally and turned out to be one of my favorite moments from our time together. Thank you to this sweet family for allowing me to capture their holiday session at home! I loved every single moment of the afternoon we spent together!
