Howard County Conservancy Fall Family Session | The J Family
You probably know by now, but the Howard County Conservancy is one of my favorite places for sessions in the area. So, this year I hosted Fall Minis there. The J Family signed up for one of my slots and I’m so happy they did because I just love how their portraits turned out. Is it weird that I want to print them and put them in my own house, because I seriously just adore them! I’m so excited to be sharing their Howard County Conservancy fall family session with you today.

No matter where I host mini sessions, I get a little obsessive about the weather leading up to the day of shoots. It’s bad. I check the reports an uncomfortable amount of times for regular sessions, but it’s even worse for minis. The day was calling for clouds and I was so nervous that by the end of the day (The J family), we’d have little to no light to work with. I had some bad luck with a 45 minute downpour, but the sun quickly came back and the ground was not soaked. Boy, we lucked out! As you’ll see when you start scrolling, we ended up with the most beautiful light I could have asked for! Despite having to wait for the rain to pass, the Jones family was so sweet and patient, trusting in my vision.
What I think I love most about their session is that everything felt so playful. Not to mention, Mom and Dad were just so relaxed the entire time. I loved it. I felt like I truly did get a look at what the J Family is like when I’m not around. Mom sang to her girls, we played my favorite blanket game, and I even got their parents under the blanket. It was too funny! I made sure when the girls needed a break that Mom and Dad got a little “date night” snuggle in for some portraits. It was seriously the best time.
