Lake Kittamaqundi Family Portraits in Columbia, MD 

How beautiful is the P Family?! This sweet family was amazing this spring, waiting patiently for their family photos. We had a session planned to start that wound up having to be rescheduled because we had such a rainy spring! When we finally got a clear day, we wound up with lots of clouds overhead… but they didn’t mind! We met up for their Lake Kittamaqundi family portraits in Columbia MD and I had such a great time getting to know them all.

For their session, Mama borrowed the green dress she’s wearing and her old daughter’s dress from my client closet. They looked amazing at the spot in Lake Kittamaqundi that we chose for their portraits! This is a park that the four of them spend a lot of time at, so it was even sweeter to do their family portraits here this spring. With the flowers and weeping willow, we truly couldn’t have asked for a better spot! Even with the clouds overhead, everything looked beautiful. The four of them had fun playing and just being them. We did work to capture some more “formal” portraits of them all but absolutely leaned into letting the girls be girls and play, too! 

When I look through these images, I’m overwhelmed by how natural and fun these four are. Some of my favorite images came towards the end while we were snapping a few portraits on the blanket. Their oldest girl tipped her dad backwards and everyone decided to just lay on the blanket, snuggling. I loved being able to capture them together and let the magic unfold naturally. That’s why I LOVE photographing families!!
