GATHER Workshop with The Kindred Path for Virginia Family Photographer

As a family photographer in the DMV area, I’m always looking for ways to improve my photography, my offerings, and portraits I create for my clients. The memories we capture are important, and I want to do everything I can to develop a stress-free process that is meaningful and exactly what you’re hoping for. This Summer I had an opportunity to attend the GATHER workshop with The Kindred Path in Richmond, VA. It was an inspiring event and I was able to meet photographers in the DMV community. I loved being surrounded by people who understand my business and the work I do for all of you! 

The Kindred Path: GATHER Workshop

The event was organized by the incredible Adrianne Shelton and Marie Tilkens. The goal was to bring us together to not only create connections in real life but to work with our incredible speakers on fine tuning our skills as family photographers. We began the workshop by focusing on in-home sessions (which you know I LOVE!) with Morgan Williams and Kara Powers. After a discussion, we had some hands-on work while we photographed a sweet in-home session together. The boys we photographed just adored their dad – and jumping on the bed. Personally, I loved documenting the sweet, quiet moments of their little girl and mom together. 

Outdoor Family Portrait Workshop

Afterwards, Marie chatted with us about products for our clients. It was a great reminder about how these products are our legacy and a tangible reminder of our family’s story. To end the evening, we had a Q & A discussion with our leaders and then finished the workshop with an outdoor family session. This session focused on a new family of four. While mom soaked in the new baby, her husband and son got to explore the gorgeous property. In between working with the family, Adrianne also captured headshots of all of us. It was a special night.

I’m so thankful I had the chance to attend the Gather workshop! It was so lovely to meet some Instagram friends and fellow photographers that are passionate about documenting families and those organic moments to cherish.
