Based in Howard County, Maryland, Christina Tundo Photography serves all the definitions of family within the DMV area, preserving the authentic moments, both big and small, that you want to hold onto forever.
I absolutely love end of the year posts. They’re so much fun to write and I love collecting all the numbers to see how many of you I had the honor of serving. 2021 was a big year for my business (read about it here!) but 2022 was a year of refinement. I kept thinking that this would be such an amazing word for the year and turns out it WAS my word of the year. I just forgot it, but lived it! Among so many other things (which you’ll read about in a minute!), I celebrated my fifth business birthday! It was truly an incredible year and I am so happy to have this time to reflect on it all.
This year I had a total of 82 photography sessions which comprises of 75 amazing families. To put in comparison, in 2020 I photographed 62 sessions.
47% of these families were repeat clients. 40 new families joined Christina’s Click this year. 46% of the sessions took place in fall which proves that fall photo-madness is real. 47% of my sessions were either newborn or maternity. There were lots of new life this year!
To give a more hands-on approach to each family, I limited the number of sessions I took each month. As a busy mom, teacher, and photographer, I knew I wanted to avoid the fall burnout that comes for many photographers. 2021 was crazy and I knew I wanted to feel more in control for 2022. With that in mind, I began to streamline my client workflow by changing my client management system. It truly made a huge difference with how I felt throughout the year – especially as my 45 minis came up this year. It made the booking process completely seamless. It keeps me organized and clients consistently informed.
Another refinement I made for my clients’ experience was that my online gallery provider changed. I switched to Pic-Time so that that clients and their families can purchase high-end quality keepsakes that will last lifetimes. One of my favorite parts is that clients can see the mockup of the product with their images. I LOVE making this process easier for my families! On top of this all, I improved the most important end point of the experience with CTP: the images and products. Now every client will enjoy high resolution images for download and heirloom products for their family to treasure for years to come.
In 2022, I attended two in-person workshops, GATHER with The Kindred Path and Finding Joy in the Chaos in Utah. These experiences helped me refine my photography skills as well as building new relationships. It was so inspiring. I gained community members that are passionate about family photography and can help support me in my business in the future. There’s something so special about these opportunities!
The success of 2022 would not have been possible without my amazing team:
Kristina of Dot the I Outsourcing has been helping me to create meaningful and valuable content for all of you here on the blog! I’m so grateful for her help every month to show off my sessions and help write helpful posts to prepare you for those sessions!
Cat Granger is my editor. Cat is a friend of mine and is the reason why I stayed sane and on top of things this Fall. I was able to keep up with the edits, send them out, and even take on new clients that I didn’t expect to work with because of her. She hand-edits each image so that it reflects my signature editing style, making my job even easier!
Mini Assistants: I should seriously call them hype squad. They help keep my mini sessions running smoothly. Katie is a long-time friend of mine (since third grade!) and fellow Christina’s Click family member. Jackie, also known as the woman in the yellow dress, is such a wonderful lady and helped me in the spring and fall. Another Christina’s Click family member, Stephanie, joined me for my peony minis.
All three are truly blessings!
CPA/CFO: Rocco Tundo. My husband Rocco does the bookkeeping and taxes. He helps me feel on top of my business financially and makes sure all of my earnings are being put to the best use (most of the time- I had to get the RF Canon 28-70 lens). He’s also my support system at home, too. Thank you for all that you do, Rocco. I couldn’t do it without you!
2022 was truly a year of blessings for Christina Tundo Photography. I want to thank each and every one of you for choosing to work with me this year. Capturing your memories will never get old. I feel so lucky that this is my job and I’m looking forward to another wonderful year in 2023. Happy new year!!
Christina did an amazing job with our family photos. From the first time we spoke--she was incredibly thoughtful, organized and detail oriented to ensure the session would be a success.. – Katie A.
