This gorgeous family session was actually a first in my business: I got to document one of my former students! I literally had to explain the change of “hats” from Mrs. Tundo to Christina Tundo, photographer. I have to admit… photographer me is WAY more fun! There are no rules and I always have such a good time with my families! I met up with the T family for a super fun (and messy!) Patapsco State Park family photos this summer in Ellicott City. We really wanted to focus on capturing these five as they explored – something they love doing together.
Through the planning process, we let the boys decide on if they wanted a more forest vibe or beach. I LOVE that the T family left that decision to the boys. With this location, we got a little bit of both. We planned to really explore Patapsco State Park, so I suggested that the family might want to bring a change of clothes. I loved how quickly both moms were down to get messy! I even brought my rain boots so I could get in the water and capture the boys playing together… turns out my boots aren’t stream proof. But that’s okay! It was so worth it!
When I was asking the moms what they wanted to capture with their family photos, they described how their three sons are so full of energy, joy, and silliness these days. It was important to document this phase in their lives together. Everyone is so connected and loves being together (outdoors especially!), so we made sure to allow those organic and natural moments to come out during our time together. The boys LOVE to play in their backyard and even have their own adventure space, so they brought along their own walking sticks to include as we moved around Patapsco State Park. It wound up being perfect.
They used my styling service to plan their outfits for their family photos. Honestly, I’m still obsessed with the colors. They wound up being perfect for the location – and really turned out to be complementary to my editing style. Everything about the T’s family photos worked out so nicely and I think they’re really true to who these five are when they’re together. I hope they feel the same!
