When this mama reached out to me about capturing photos of her sweet family in their Southern Maryland home, I couldn’t wait! As she explained to me what she was looking and hoping for in their photos, I knew we were going to have a wonderful time together. Their little boy is now 9 months old, and these wonderful parents wanted to document all of the small details that make this time so special with him, and their furbaby, too.

As we began discussing what was important to the family, we settled on capturing the four of them in their home. It’s their favorite place to be and where so many special memories have already been made. Since they wanted to capture their dog and son together, it also made the logistics of the session much easier! We worked in their living room, bedroom, and nursery to capture moments that make each day special for the four of them.

I loved watching their pup nose up to his little brother and give him lots of kisses. Not to mention all of the snuggles and giggles mom and dad got out of their little guy! Mom told me it was important to capture his little hands and chin, so I loved the chance to focus on him from behind the camera. The whole day was playful and honestly just such a good time!

When to Schedule Your Family Photos

9 months old is such a fun age to photograph. Babies are exploring and learning more about who they are each day. While most families focus on newborn photos, 6 month milestones and one year photos, I just have to say that this age group is so much fun! This little guy was playful and full of happy laughs – so it’s just a good time for everyone. If you’re trying to decide when to document your baby next, consider a 9 month milestone session!
