Based in Howard County, Maryland, Christina Tundo Photography serves all the definitions of family within the DMV area, preserving the authentic moments, both big and small, that you want to hold onto forever.
As a Maryland family photographer, there is no greater joy than when a family asks me to document their special memories. But, when I’m asked to do it a second time, our sessions take on another whole meaning in my heart. The more I’m with your family, the more I feel like part of your family. I think that when we’re all able to become more comfortable together, your final photos are more authentic and joyful. I definitely think that was the case with this sweet family in Columbia MD. This was our second family session together. I love how relaxed their family photos wound up being this time around. That was partly because of their incredible selves, and also the magic that comes from working together again.
Although the photos wound up being casual and fun, it wasn’t so relaxed leading up to the actual session. The day of our session, the weather decided not to cooperate! While sometimes we consider rescheduling (read my weather policies here!), we decided to roll with the punches – including the clouds, mist, and mud. I brought my off camera flash to add more light into the home, and we went for it! We also knew this family was going to want to explore outside their house. So, the weather just gave us more mud to play in – and more water to fill up my boots. Worth it, as always!
For their session, this family knew that it was important to simply capture them spending time together, the way that they always do. They love reading books with their little one, playing with his trucks, and playing outside. That was one of the reasons we split their session between their gorgeous house and the Robinson Nature Center (to get in the stream!).
While I was reading through their pre-session questionnaire, I was struck by how beautiful this stage of life really is: so many toddler kisses, dance parties, and the magic of nature. I loved watching their time together unfold, and documenting it all so that they can always remember this phase of life with their son. I hope that they will all treasure these moments for years to come, as the muddy afternoons in the stream fade into the next phase of life!
