Spring is my favorite time of the year for family photos. I love the colors outside – all of the flowers, pastels, and greens. But I also love the outfits for this time of year because of the soft greens and florals. With spring family photo sessions coming up quickly, I want to share some of my favorite color palettes for outfits in the spring! While it’s definitely the season of pastels and florals, there are certainly other options – so don’t feel like you have to use these ideas.
If neutrals are your thing, I’m here for it! I love the look of light tans, creams, and whites among all of the colors in the spring landscapes. With this color palette, I like to choose outfits with a bit of texture to help mix up the looks. Try to avoid the whole family in all white. Bring a tan or grey to help with variety, too!
Looking for a bit more color in your family portraits this spring? Then this palette is for you! I love the combination of robin egg blue, a peach/pink color and tans. This color palette looks great for cherry blossom portraits and against the green grass and trees. I love the pop of color and the robin egg blue is a great starting place for building this palette! PS. this sweet girl’s dress is a 12-18 mo. option in my client closet!!
Another great option for more colors in your spring photos are yellow, blue, and whites. Yellow is such a cheery color and can bring some beautiful energy into your photos. When paired with light blues and whites, the palette looks complete and well-rounded! Remember to consider small patterns on your outfits, too. It’s a nice way to bring in some texture within the palette you’ve chosen.
This next color palette is one of my favorites. With a sage green, light blue and pink, yellow, and brown, it’s a beautiful option if you LOVE colors. I love starting with one of the solid colors and adding fun accents – like this little ones’ bow – to bring in the other parts of the palette. All of the portraits are beautiful, and cohesive, without being an explosion of color.
I love this last spring color palette. It’s so timeless and honestly, it’s an outfit that can be used all seasons. In the spring, it’s a great way to compliment other spring colors that you’ve picked! Remember, I offer Style & Select as a complimentary clients to help you decide what to wear. It’s really easy to select the colors you like and it will help provide neturals to match.
Choosing your family’s outfits for family photos should be the least stressful part of the experience! Remember, my client closet and Style & Select are at your fingertips as a CTP client so we can plan the session of your dreams!
