Based in Howard County, Maryland, Christina Tundo Photography serves all the definitions of family within the DMV area, preserving the authentic moments, both big and small, that you want to hold onto forever.
When this beautiful mama reached out to me, she started with, “I have this crazy idea…” and right away, I knew this session was going to be unique and so much fun. Her crazy idea turned out to be a documentary style family portrait session on the family’s boat. I have to admit, it wasn’t crazy at all. In fact, it was a lot of fun. We traveled along the Chesapeake Bay during our time together. I had a wonderful time documenting this family and the exciting day they had with their lifestyle Chesapeake Beach family session.
For this session, we decided to meet at Sandy Point Beach a bit after sunrise. I kept telling the mom that I hope that we had some clouds for the session. Her reaction was, “that’s asking a lot Chrissy.” From there, we traveled beyond the Bay Bridge until they found one of their favorite spots on the Chesapeake Bay. Before we left the dock, I photographed some portraits of them on the boat and then we were off! Once we arrived at their favorite spot, we unloaded onto a little sand bar. There, I captured everyone’s “official” family photos. What was so crazy is that we had what I call a “unicorn lighting” situation. There were dark clouds covering the sun but behind them was blue skies. Afterwards, I got to just enjoy the warm day with this sweet family!
This boat session was the most fun! Once the kids had a chance to run around and play, I began to photograph them all again – just documenting what it’s like for them to be out and about on a summer day. Since I had a nursing baby, I did something that has only happened once, I pumped on the boat. It honestly felt like a mini vacation for the day and not work. I’m so happy that this whole session started with a “crazy idea” and I hope that they’ll treasure these images forever.
If you want to document your favorite summer family memories, let’s chat! I’m all about the unique and “crazy” moments you’ve got for me.
PS. Come back to the blog next week – because I’ll be sharing even more from this sweet family!
