Family Feature: S Family Northern Virginia and Maryland Family and Maternity Photographer
I’m loving these family features! In July, I shared my first family feature – showcasing one of the families who worked with me for the last few years. Today, I’m sharing my next family feature: the S family! I’ve worked with the S family since 2020 and I absolutely love all of them. Their girls bring the best energy to our sessions (always down for twirls!) and I always walk away with a big smile on my face. When I first met the S family, I knew right away I was in for something special. They’re so sweet, caring, and supportive.
My favorite thing about the S family is that they told me that “getting a mini session with you is like getting tickets to a Beyonce concert.” I mean, who doesn’t want clients who make you feel as special as Beyonce?! I’m so excited to be sharing some of my favorite images from their sessions – along with their sweet answers to our feature questions. Photographing the S family always brings me such joy – and I’m thrilled to be sharing what they love about working together today, too!
Why choose Christina Tundo Photography as your Northern Virginia family photographer?
When searching for a photographer to take pictures of our family, I searched through hundreds of photos on social media and photographer galleries on websites and while many were incredibly talented, I didn’t feel like they were a good fit for the photos I was hoping to have taken of our family. I also had two small kids at the time under three and was incredibly nervous about how the session would go. When I came across Chrissy’s Instagram page, I knew she was “the one”.
The pictures felt light and airy, young and older kids (and husbands!) appeared to be comfortable in front of the camera, and I was really impressed with the way Chrissy captured sweet moments that aren’t staged – the hug from a little one who is (initially) nervous and holding on to a parent, the sibling who reaches out for the other with a smile, or even a sweet moment between the parents when the kids are distracted for a brief moment. After our first session with Chrissy, I knew I hadn’t found a photographer to take our family pictures; I knew we’d found our family photographer.
What has been your favorite photography moment?
I was pregnant with our third and wanted to capture the last time we’d be a family of four. Not only did she capture the sweetest pictures of our family (which are hanging in our home), but she captured priceless moments I’ll cherish forever – our oldest smiling from ear to ear hugging my belly, our middle showing excitement for the baby to come, and our family’s overall excitement for our newest arrival.
What piece of advice would you give someone when selecting a family photographer or when in the process of family photos?
Find a photographer who matches your vibe! And don’t stress about everything being so perfect and staged – I’ll admit I was/can sometimes be this person, but trust your photographer. Be present in that moment with the people you’re taking the photo with and Chrissy will do her thing!
