I hear it all the time: “I love the look of lifestyle family photos, but…”. Well, no more buts! Today, I’m breaking down 4 misconceptions about lifestyle family portraits so that you realize these fun and beautiful sessions are literally perfect for everyone! Here’s four reasons why you shouldn’t be afraid to book lifestyle family portraits. Let’s debunk these myths!
It doesn’t matter what your house looks like or what you think it should look like. Every home and family is different. I’ve photographed homes where families recently moved in or were about to move out. Seriously, with boxes everywhere. It doesn’t matter! This is your family’s space and I’m not going to judge you. All we need is some beautiful light and we’re good to go.
Wrong again! I bet your home does. My job is to find that light – yours is to relax and enjoy this photo session. I’ve used entry ways for photos before as well as bedrooms, living rooms, and kitchens. I promise you, it’s 100% possible to have a lifestyle family session in your home. We’ll do everything we can to use natural light and unless it’s super cloudy on the day of your session, that shouldn’t be a problem!
Honestly, this is the reason I love lifestyle sessions! Kids don’t have to be “perfect” for me. They have their own spaces to go to to take a break and play with their toys or get a snack. Plsu, with us being at home, we can plan for other activities too to keep them occupied. Check out some of my favorite ideas HERE! But in all seriousness, that’s why I love these sessions – being in your space is automatically going to make everyone feel more relaxed and at ease with me being there.
I get it. Showing up to some public spot and having me pose you and ask you to smile can be a lot. Being at home, in a space that you love and know – and that’s private, can be a great way around this concern. Everyone’s naturally more comfortable at home and lifestyle sessions allow your family to feel more confident while we capture your story at home.
As you can see, lifestyle family portrait sessions are a GREAT option for family photos. Whether you’ve got a new baby, or older ones, being at home will make our sessions super fun and relaxed. Find more tips for your next portrait session HERE!
